Design Metrics
Solution space exploration involves running thousands of simulation experiments to explore design tradeoffs and their impact on serial link performance.
Quantum Channel Designer post-processes simulation output to extract key design metrics automatically, presenting metrics along with the combinations of
design parameters that generated them. Data is presented in spreadsheet format and can be filtered, sorted and plotted to quickly determine design
trends.
Analog Channel Metrics
Network characterization analyzes the behavior of the unequalized analog channel. Quantum Channel Designer uses an internal microwave-quality network solver
to perform these characterizations quickly and accurately. Design metrics extracted by QCD include reflection coefficient and insertion loss, band ripple and
width of the transmitted impulse response. Analog channel metrics are presented in spreadsheet format along with the conditions that generated them.

Link Metrics
Statistical and time-domain simulations analyze the analog channel together with SerDes equalization and clock recovery behavior to predict the link's end-to-end response.
Quantum Channel Designer extracts consistent metrics from both statistical and time-domain simulations to allow easy comparison of simulation results. Key design
metrics include Bit Error Rate (BER), post-equalized eye height/width and voltage/timing margins. Data is presented in spreadsheet format and can be quickly
filtered, sorted and plotted. Graphical simulation results include eye diagrams (color coded for probability), eye probability contours, time-domain waveforms,
data bathtub / clock probability plots and more.

Advanced Simulation Display
Quantum Channel Designer's advanced simulation results viewer has been designed to deal with the large amounts of data produced by QCD simulations. Data from the
simulation results spreadsheet can be loaded directly into the viewer and used to drive which simulation waveforms are displayed. This gives designers the ability
to view metrics from thousands of simulations at the same time, sorting and filtering results to pick simulation cases, then displaying graphical results data for those
cases. This allows designers to manage vast amounts of simulation result data quickly and efficiently.
The QCD simulation results viewer displays both frequency and time-domain data, including channel S-parameters, impulse / step / pulse responses, transfer functions,
color-coded statistical and persistent eyes, data bathtub / clock probability plots, eye contours and time-domain waveform data. Designers can have multiple display
windows open within a single viewer session, switching back and forth between different views with a single mouse click. The waveform viewer has been optimized
for use with QCD, allowing designers to quickly load and display dozens of waveforms in the same view window.
